The Reason Why We Vape.
This is a question that has been periodically thrown at me over the last five years.
Curiously, the question is usually posed by someone that is a non-smoker and often provides us with the key to the real ignorance surrounding the subject. A lack of understanding why anyone would want to shove anything into their lungs.
It’s an understandable debate and for many a very frustrating issue to tackle. There always has to be two sides to every story. So why would we even vape?
The number one reason has to be on the grounds of health. Smoking kills more than 8 million people globally every year. This doesn’t include the number of illnesses attributed to passive smoking.
Secondly there’s the financial aspect, which sadly often overshadows the health benefits. On average it’s possible to recoup three quarters of the money spent on cigarettes annually by switching to e-cigarettes.
From a social perspective it’s much better. Smoking has a habit of segregating people in a way vaping doesn’t. The aroma produced from an e-cigarette is far more appealing than the smell of burning tar.
Our sense of taste and smell are also heightened and return to a state in which they were supposed to function. A cup of coffee smells more appealing. The taste of your favourite food is now further improved.
Yes, there are many other reasons why you would vape but let’s not forget the myriad of flavours currently available on the market. Indeed these, together with a multitude of vaping devices are vital weapons in the battle to win the war over the stinkies.
Across the globe there is sadly an even bigger war being waged. This is the war against ignorance. For example, Brazil, India and Singapore have all placed a blanket ban on vaping, including online sales. At the time of writing the struggle to hold on to e liquid flavours in the US is still very real.
The rise in popularity of open pod based vaping systems has only compounded the amount of ignorance found resonating within these countries. For whatever reason, young adults have latched on to their apparent “coolness” thanks also to the popularity of nic salts.
Here in the UK, CBD is regularly used not only as a smoke cessation aid but to help with medical issues such as arthritis. To know how to separate CBD from THC is to open the door on another market. A market that has become exploited and began to leak poison over all the reasons why we vape in the first place.
The longer ignorance remains rife and original ingredients of vaping products are being tampered with to include lung damaging Vitamin E acetate the less chance of understanding. Indeed there’s the likelihood of further banning as opposed to sensible regulatory procedures.
Ignorance as they say really is bliss, but for those of us that understand all the benefits?.. Well that's the reason why we vape.
Great Article.
I know round about 500000 vapers. Never heard of any health issues. Myself included. Just benefits shown up. Governments should promote vaping instead of banning and regulating till collapse

Great post that poses a great question. For me vaping helped me quit the dreaded cigarettes. Now almost 4 years on, it’s become a hobby, but I’d rather vape than go back to the cigs. I love finding new flavours that I haven’t tried before too. Brilliant read. Keep it up!
as many know vaping saved my life from close to 50/60 a day from a habbit forged in the forces. For me personally its so much more than just vaping its hand eye co ordination, learning more about how vapes work and gave me back control.
